NATIONAL MOTORING NEWS – Motor trade sales increased by 8.1 percent year-on-year in September, Statistics SA said on Thursday.
“The highest annual growth rates were recorded for workshop income (18.1 percent) and sales of accessories (14.7 percent),” Stats SA said.
Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 1.3 percent in September 2014 compared with August 2014. This followed month-on-month changes of -0.4 percent in August 2014 and 1.3 percent in July 2014.
Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 2.9 percent in the three months ended in September 2014 compared with the previous three months.
Motor trade sales increased by 4.4 percent for the three months ended September 2014 compared with the three months ended September 2013.
The main contributors to this increase were fuel sales (4.6 percent and contributing 1.3 percent), sales of accessories (7.1 percent and 1.2 percent), and used vehicle sales (5.9 percent and one percent).
